Who we are
Temple Foods (Pty) Ltd (Registration: 2015/169) is a South African supplement manufacturer and retailer located at 169 Illumina Drive, Silvertondale, Pretoria. We’re here to help you live better through pure, science-backed supplements made without excipients. We collect and use your personal information only to serve you — not to profit off your data.
What we collect
- Contact info: name, email address, phone number
- Shipping address and delivery preferences
- Order history: what you’ve bought, when, and how much you spent
- Payment details: processed securely via Peach Payments or iKhokha; we do NOT store your full card numbers ourselves
- Marketing preferences: whether you’ve opted in to emails and promotions
- Browsing and analytics data: page views, the link or ad you came from (UTM source/medium/campaign), referring site, device type, country (from your IP) and a truncated IP address. Only collected if you accept analytics cookies.
- Cookie consent record: we log every choice you make on our cookie banner — timestamp, truncated IP, browser version, policy version and what you accepted — so we can prove valid consent (POPIA requires this).
Cookies in detail: see the Cookie settings page for a live view of what each category does and to change your choices any time. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.
Why we collect it
- Order fulfilment: shipping, invoicing, delivery tracking
- Customer support: answering questions, processing returns, handling complaints
- Marketing (only if you’ve opted in)
- Business operations: stock management, fraud prevention, legal compliance
- Analytics: understanding how people use the site so we can improve it
Who we share with
- Payment processors: Peach Payments and iKhokha
- Courier providers: name, phone, and address for delivery
- Takealot: if you’ve cross-purchased there
- Legal authorities: if required by law
We never sell your data. Full stop.
Your POPIA rights
South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) gives you the right to:
- Access: ask us what data we hold about you
- Correct: tell us if your info is wrong, and we’ll fix it
- Delete: request removal of your data (subject to legal holds)
- Object: opt out of marketing emails anytime
- Restrict processing: ask us to limit how we use your info
To exercise any of these rights, email contactus@templefoods.co.zawith “Privacy Request” in the subject line.
Cookies & analytics
We use three categories of cookies. The first runs by default (POPIA Section 11(1)(b) — necessary to fulfil our contract with you); the other two are opt-in only.
- Strictly necessary— sign-in, cart, CSRF protection, and the cookie that stores your consent decision. The site can’t function without these. We do not need your consent for these, but we still tell you they exist.
- Analytics — first-party only. Page views, UTM parameters from links you click, document referrer, device type and a truncated IP. Stored in our own database (Neon, EU region) — we do NOT use Google Analytics or any third-party analytics network. We use this data to know which products customers care about and which channels work.
- Marketing — currently dormant. When enabled, this category will permit Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel and Google Ads conversion tracking so we can measure ad performance and remarket. These vendors transfer your data outside South Africa (United States) — POPIA Section 72 requires your explicit opt-in for that, which is what this category gives.
Change your choices at any time from the Cookie settings page (linked in every footer).
Direct marketing (POPIA Section 69)
We email you only if either (a) you ticked the marketing opt-in when you signed up or on a later visit, or (b) you’re a past customer and we’re writing about our own similar products— Section 69(3)(a) of POPIA allows this “soft opt-in” for existing customers, provided every email has an easy unsubscribe link (ours always will). Unsubscribing from one list unsubscribes you from all marketing.
Cross-border data transfer (POPIA Section 72)
Some services we use process data outside South Africa. We’ve signed each vendor’s Data Processing Agreement and confirmed that they offer substantially-similar protection to POPIA:
- Resend(transactional + marketing email) — USA & EU.
- Neon (our database) — EU region.
- Anthropic / Claude (proof-of-payment screenshot verification) — USA. Receives the image you upload to verify your payment; does not retain it for training under the enterprise plan we use.
- When marketing consent is enabled in future, Meta andGoogle (USA).
Data security
We use HTTPS encryption for all transactions. Card details are handled only by Peach Payments and iKhokha, both PCI-DSS compliant. We don’t store full card numbers. In the event of a breach we’ll notify you within 3 business days.
How long we keep your data
- Order records: 7 years (tax and legal reasons)
- Marketing emails: until you unsubscribe
- Browsing cookies (anon ID): 24 months of inactivity, then auto-expires
- Analytics rows: the life of your relationship with us, then deleted within 12 months of last contact
- Cookie consent records: kept for the life of the relationship + 3 years (POPIA enforcement window)
- Payment records: managed by our processors per their policy
